Welcome to Maple
Learning Update - Mrs Ward

We’ve enjoyed having Maple Class back since Christmas. They have all settled back into routines very well. We have started our new topic, Once Upon a Time. Last week, we read a selection of different fairy tales with the children and enjoyed playing with our castle during small world play. The children have been very creative in art, making crowns and painting lots of pictures. We’ve also been exploring sensory play linked to our topic, looking for all the dwarfs from Snow White and using a pincer grip to collect beans for Jack and the Beanstalk.

In phonics, we have been listening to the sound s and exploring what it looks like using the Little Wandle scheme.

In maths, we have been looking at numbers 6, 7, and 8. The children have been giving Hansel and Gretel the correct number of sweets and placing numbers on a number line in the correct order.

Maple Class have also had their first PE lessons in the hall. We got the equipment out and practised our balancing. The children were brilliant and really enjoyed their first session.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:

  • Literacy: Goldilocks and the Three BearsThe Three Little Pigs
  • Maths: Mass and capacity
  • Phonics: We will be looking at the sounds a and t

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to more fun and learning as we finish the term!
