Learning Update
Literacy – Leila and the Blue Fox
In Literacy, we have started reading Leila and the Blue Fox. It is a story about climate change and animal conservation. So far, we have written diary entries and informal letters. We will finish the unit by writing blogs to give advice.
Maths
In Maths, we have started our year by looking at place value. We have explored the value of digits within numbers, as well as rounding and using number lines to support our understanding.
History – Maafa
In History, we have started our topic Maafa. This is a Swahili word that means ‘great catastrophe’. We will be learning about the transatlantic slave trade and its consequences.
P.E.
In P.E., we have started learning tag rugby. We are developing skills such as passing, teamwork and finding space through movement.
French
In French, we have started learning how to discuss school and the classroom.
R.E.
In R.E., we have been exploring what is important to us and what is important in different religions.
Computing
In Computing, we have been learning about blogs. We have explored what makes a blog engaging and effective for readers.
