Welcome to Maple
Learning Update - Mrs Ward
Maple class had a lovely start to our new topic, “Big Wide World.”
Last week, we explored the world by looking at maps and globes. The pupils also enjoyed learning about different types of transport, such as cars, planes and boats. We used simple language, visuals and hands-on activities to support understanding.
This week, we have been learning about journeys and how we get to different places. The pupils took part in a special “journey” to the beach (our sandpit), where they enjoyed building sandcastles and playing with a beach ball. We also made our own passports and turned the classroom into an aeroplane, which supported imaginative play and communication.
In Maths, we explored 3D shapes through practical activities and talked about numbers using concepts such as bigger and smaller, with lots of visual and tactile support.
In PE, we practised ball skills like throwing and catching, focusing on coordination and turn-taking.
Next week, we will continue with our “Big Wide World” topic. We will be learning about different countries and the animals that live there, using stories, pictures and sensory experiences to support learning. We may also go on another “holiday” to the rainforest — watch this space!
As always, we will continue to adapt activities to meet the individual needs of the pupils and support their learning in a fun and engaging way.
