Acorn Playgroup and Pre-School

Already over 10 years old and now a registered charity, ACORN is located within the school. It currently holds a Hertfordshire Accreditation Award and a "good" OFSTED report, thus providing the right environment to promote a high standard of care and education for your child. Our staff:children ratio meets or exceeds recommended minimum levels at all times.

Playgroup ages 2½ - 4: We are open each weekday morning and cater for the children's educational and social needs in a stimulating and secure environment. The primary aims of the playgroup are for children to learn the skills of life through play and to prepare them for the transition to nursery/pre-school.

Registered with OFSTED, we are also an active member of the pre-school Learning Alliance. Children aged three years and over will be funded through the Education Authority and will be entitled to fully funded sessions for eleven weeks per school term.

Pre-school age 4+: The pre-school is open each weekday afternoon. The aim of these sessions is to prepare the children for reception class by developing their phonetic awareness and early maths skills.

There is no charge for these sessions as the group receives the government's nursery grant.

Applications are invited for children to start pre-school during the term in which they have their 4th birthday.

Playgroup is Monday - Friday 9.15am - 11.45am
Pre-School is Monday - Friday 12.45pm - 3.00pm
