About Us

At Oaklands Primary School we have five classes starting from Reception. We have a brand new purpose built Reception Classroom and play area. We focus on the key areas of the Foundation Stage currciulum in both the indoor and outdoor areas. We continue to excite and inspire children to learn in KS1 and KS2 through our personalised curriculum and learning style.

In KS2 we currently have three classes with approximately 20 children in each which makes us highly competitive with independent school provision. We have adopted a personalised learning stratetgy that ensures that all children make good or better progress whatever the class size or ability. Our newly created KS2 playground was designed with the assistance of the children who act as house captains, play leaders, buddies and important advocates of the school.

At the end of the year our children head off to secondary school and have gained places at Bishops Hatfield Girls, Richard Hale Boys, Hitchin Boys, Hitchin Girls, Monks Walk, Stanbrough and Sherradswood.

We welcome parents into the school as volunteers and there are a number of ways for you to become involved. This could be helping in class and on trips or by becoming a key member of the school. There are three key groups that work in support of the school which are:

  • The Parents' Forum that offers a parents view on whole school issues
  • The Governing Body that supports the school strategically in enhancing the pupils education further
  • The Fundraising Committee that focuses on raising funds to enhance the children's experience at Oaklands.
